Elle est à côté du Palazzo Re Enzo et du Palais du Podestat. Commandée par le papa Pie IV, elle symbolise le règne du pape sur le monde à l’image du dieu Neptune de la mythologie romaine.

The Fountain of Neptune,by Giambologna, is a monumental civic fountain located in the eponymous square, Piazza del Nettuno, next to Piazza Maggiore, in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. It is located next to the Palazzo Re Enzo and the Palazzo del Podesta. Ordered by the pope Pius IV, it symbolises the reign of the pope over the world , in the image of the god Neptune of the Roman mythology.
